We all love cricket. But do you know when, where and between which teams first ODI was played?

The first ODI was played on 5th January 1971 between Australia and England at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia.

The first ODI was an accidental one. Actually, It was a 3rd Test Match that was going to be played between England and Australia.

But, when the first three days of the 3rd Test Match were washed out , then officials decided to abandon the match.  And decided to play a one-off one-day game consisting of 40-over match, with eight balls per over each side, was agreed.

In this match, England batted first, and were all out for 190 off 39.4 overs. John Edrich made the first one-day international half-century, and the highest score of the game, hitting 82 runs.But, Australia won the match by five wickets with 42 balls remaining.
